Circuit of The Americas 2017 MotoGP Race Recap And Analysis

Hi everyone! Welcome to another race review of the 2017 season. We headed to Austin, Texas for the third round of the MotoGP World Championship. We saw that Jorge Lorenzo was elated to have qualified in the top ten and it was his first top ten for the Italian manufacturer.

It seemed that both Ducati riders had opted for the softer front and rear tyres. While the reigning world champion,Marc Marquez, had opted for both harder compound tyres. He was on his way to reach his fifth race win on the track and his first race win of the season.

Lights were off, and off they went. A surprising first lap as Dani Pedrosa got the hole shot towards the uphill turn one of the circuit with his fellow countryman and teammate behind him in second place.Valentino Rossi got away well and he was in third place behind Marquez.

There was also a great battle at the back of the pack as Yamaha rider, Maverick Viñales and Ducati rider, Jorge Lorenzo, battled for fourth place. In the end, no luck was with Viñales as he crashed at turn eighteen on lap two of the race.He was bitterly disappointed as it could have been his third race win in a row if he continued to ride with a constant pace.

Marc Marquez set the fastest lap of the race on lap two with a time of 2:05.190.It just showed how strong the Honda rider was in the American track. There was also a crash for Karel Abraham in the middle part of the track.

On lap eight, finally Marquez made a move on Pedrosa and he was up into first place on turn seven. It also showed that Marquez's gamble for hard tyres had paid off. Then, there was another crash for Avintia Racing Team's rider, Loris Baz, at the penultimate corner of the circuit.

A fierce battle was shown by the rookie Yamaha Tech 3 rider, Johann Zarco, and the MotoGP veteran, Valentino Rossi, for the final podium place. Then, Zarco made an ambitious move up the inside of Rossi at turn three resulting the nine time world champion to cut the corner of turn four. There was nothing else Rossi could do to avoid the contact with Zarco but it resulted a time penalty of 0.3 second.

Spanish rider, Alvaro Bautista, crashed at turn eleven and there was a battle for first place between Marquez and fellow Spaniard, Dani Pedrosa. There was another crash and it turned out to be Sam Lowes who was caught up at turn thirteen on lap twelve.

Hats off to the veteran rider, Valentino Rossi, as he hunted down Dani Pedrosa on the final laps of the race and snatched second place from the Spanish rider at turn nineteen. There were celebrations in the Marquez camp as Marc Marquez finished on the top step of the podium for the fifth time on the circuit since his rookie year in 2013.

Marquez was followed by the master in second place and fellow teammate, Dani Pedrosa, in third place grabbing the final podium place.
